1.延长定语，可以增加并列关系的形容词，或增加后置定语。
如，a girl 一个女孩儿。a cute little girl一个可爱的小女孩儿。

加上后置定语的例子。
a woman,一个女人。
a woman in white,一个穿白衣服的女人。
a woman with two kids behind her back.一个身后跟着两个孩子的女人。
2.增加状语，比如，时间状语，地点状语，方式状语。

he gets up at six o'clock every day
他每天六点起床。后面增加了两个时间状语。
3.增加同位语
my uncle will pay us a visit this sunday
我的叔叔/舅舅这个周日要来拜访我们。
my uncle,my mother's little brother will pay us a visit this sunday.我舅舅，我妈妈的小弟，这个周日要来拜访我们。
增加同位语可以使主语的描述更准确。
4.增加插入语，如，do you think,这类的。
who is the best basketball player
谁是最佳篮球运动员。
who do you think is the best basketball player?你认为谁是最佳的篮球运动员。
5.表强调的副词短语。如，in the world,on earth,the heck,the fxxk,etc

你在这儿干什么
what on earth are you doing here
你究竟在这儿干什么呢？（可以表质疑，不满等意思）。

i don't know this man.我不认识这个男的。
定语从句:i don't know this man from whom i borrowed two hundred dollars
我不认识借给我二百块钱的这个人。
宾语从句:
i don't know that.我不知道那事儿。
i don't know that you've got married
我不知道你已经结婚了。
状语从句:i was watching tv.我在看电视。
i was watching tv when the gangsters broke into my house

加上连词but
